Simple ingredients like rice, beer and apple cider vinegar have been part of natural haircare DIY routines  for centuries. Some of these ingredients you might just have at home. They have proven to be highly effective when used appropriately and consistently. You can incorporate any of these Fermented Haircare Rinses to your washday routine to reap the benefits of fermented haircare.

     

    Fermented Rice water rinses are a cheap and effective way to promote healthy hair growth but should be used with caution. Try it out once a week for at least 3 – 8 weeks to see noticeable results.

     

    To make you own batch of Rice Water  follow the instructions below:

     

    • Use ½ a cup of Rice (NOt-Parboiled) – White, Jasmin, Brown or Basmati
    • Rinse well
    • Soak rice in 2 – 3 cups of water for up to 24 hours, steering occasionally to remove starch.
    • The Soaked rice should have a slightly soar smell to indicate that it is ready..
    • Strain rice through a cheese cloth or nut bag into a glass jar with a lid.
    • Use it immediately or keep in the fridge for up to 2 days.
    • The rice water can be used as a conditioning rinse after a shampoo. Beer rinses are a very popular Old wives remedy for Healthier, Shinier Hair. They are worth a try. Like Fermented Rice Water, you should try it for at least 4-8 weeks to see noticeable results. How to Use Beer as a Healthy Hair Rinse:
      • Open a can of a good malt beer and let it go flat. (A craft beer is recommended
      • Wash and condition your hair as usual.
      • Part your hair into sections and carefully pour beer into each section. Use an applicator or spray bottle for ease.
      • Massage beer into your hair and scalp.
      • Leave to sit for 10 -15 minutes then rinse out thoroughly.
